Gary's recent film with Val Kilmer, Conspiracy, was released on DVD in March. Gary plays John Rhodes, who pretty
much owns the town that retired Special Ops soldier Val Kilmer visits at the request of an old friend. But when he arrives, he finds that his friend is missing--and Gary might be involved--so he sets out to find his friend, and perhaps even save the entire town. The movie was filmed in New Mexico, and is directed by Adam Marcus.
You can buy Conspiracy on DVD or as a download at Amazon.com.
The Gary Cole Archives celebrates its 10th anniversary with a redesign from the ground up of the entire site. We've added several new projects, up-to-date listings of where you can see Gary on TV, review quotes (which are now on the page of the project being reviewed), info on Gary's favorite causes, and more. We've also expanded the photos section, and added new wallpapers, an expanded and updated "Gary changes" film and a "Guess the Gary" game to the Fun Stuff section. The Store has expanded to include plays Gary's been in, as well as DVDs, tapes, books and soundtracks from his film and television projects. (Thanks to Fiona for many of the videocaptures.)
Feel free to look around the site and check out what's new. Hope you like it!
The Switch has just been released on DVD! This true story is a personal favorite here at The Gary Cole Archives. Gary plays Larry McAfee, an athletic young man who becomes paralyzed in a motorcyle accident and sues for the right to have a switch installed on his ventilator that will allow him to turn the machine off. This unusually complex portrayal of the issues of "quality of life" is one of Gary's best performances. It's not been released before in the U.S. You can buy it from Amazon with this direct link or from Amazon.co.uk in PAL format.
Gary recently guest-starred on The CW network's series, Supernatural. He played a Hollywood executive whose set is having a little trouble with some suspicious deaths, which the Supernatural boys (series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, with Gary, at left) go undercover to investigate. Did you miss it? You can download the single episode here.
The film is a period piece based on actual events about a baseball team that arose out of Japanese internment camps in Topaz, Utah during World War II. Gary plays camp guard Billy Burrell, a frustrated minor league catcher who antagonizes a star pitcher Lyle Nomura (Aaron Yoo) who was headed for the majors before he was interned in the camp. Tensions arise when Lyle falls for Billy's daughter.
It's based on the book Through a Diamond: 100 Years of Japanese American Baseball by Kerry Yo Nakagawa. You can order the DVD with these direct links from Amazon.com.
Gary plays Rich Garces, a character based on Richard Garcia, the supervisor who kept Hanssen distracted with the noose closed in around him. The film got very good reviews, and what could be better than Gary and Chris Cooper acting together? Order it with these direct links from Amazon.com or in PAL format from Amazon.co.uk.
Gary's brilliant '90s series, American Gothic, is finally out on DVD! Celebrating AG's 10th Anniversary, the DVD set features all 22 episodes of the entire series including the four lost episodes that never aired on network television. Bonus features include 15 deleted and extended scenes (never-before-seen) and a pilot commentary with Shaun Cassidy.
This is Gary's masterpiece role, as the sexy, charming, completely evil Sheriff Lucas Buck. CBS, the network which had the show, never knew what to do with it and ran the episodes out of order and skipped some entirely. Now you can see the complete series from start to finish! It also stars Lucas Black, Sarah Paulson, Brenda Bakke, Jake Weber, Nick Searcy and Paige Turco, and was created by Shaun Cassidy and produced by Sam Raimi.
This is absolutely our favorite show of all time here at The Gary Cole Archives. If you only buy one DVD set, this is the one to get! Buy it now from Amazon or on 6 discs in PAL format from Amazon.co.uk.
If you are one of Gary's legion of fans who loved him as Bill Lumbergh in Office Space, check this out: You can now get a Bill Lumbergh (Office Space) T-shirt featuring Gary as the classic "boss from hell." Featuring Gary in his striped shirt and power suspenders holding the Initech mug, it's a black shirt featuring Lumbergh's catchphrase: "Um yeah... I'm going to need you to come in on Saturday."
Sean Faris plays a troubled teen who loses his position as star of an Arizona Rugby Team after being sentenced to a boy's home in Salt Lake. Soon he finds himself playing for Gary's team in the national championships against his old team coached by his dad, played by Neal McDonough. Also featured in the film is Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings).
The feature filmed recently in Utah; look for it in October.
