The Rising Place

2000, Feature Film

In this award-winning independent film, Gary plays the part of Avery Hodge, the father of a young girl who is faced with a difficult situation in the south in the 1940s.  Told in a series of flashbacks, the story is set in motion when a young woman finds a box of old letters in her aunt's closet and learns about  some family secrets.  Written and directed by Tom Rice, the film also stars Tess Harper, Frances Fisher, Laurel Holloman, Jennifer Holiday, and Bill Campbell.  Buy it on DVD or VHS.  

The Gift

2000, Feature Film

Gary plays District Attorney David Duncan in this film which reunites him with A Simple Plan director/American Gothic producer Sam Raimi. The film, written by Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Epperson, follows what happens when a small-town Georgia woman with psychic powers becomes involved with a local murder. The stellar cast includes Cate Blanchett, Hilary Swank, Greg Kinnear, Keanu Reeves, and Michael Jeter. Buy it on DVD.    

Harvey Birdman

2001- , Animated Television Series

Harvey Birdman, as voiced by Gary in this animated series, is a former superhero turned attorney whose practice specializes in cases involving other cartoon characters, including Fred Flintstone and Jonny Quest. The sly humor appeals to adults more than kids-- and Gary also voices Judge Mightor (who has trouble remembering Harvey's name)!

Cadet Kelly

2002, Television Film

Gary plays "Sir," the title character's stepdad in Cadet Kelly, a tv-movie made for Disney. When Kelly's (Hilary Duff) mom marries a military man who has just become headmaster at a military school, Kelly finds herself in uniform as a cadet--and trying to make friends with the man who is both her stepdad and her principal! Kim Possible

2002- , Animated Television Series

In another animated series from Disney, Gary does the voice for rocket scientist Dr. Possible, father of Kim Possible, cheerleader by day, superhero by night.  Dr. Possible is well-meaning and loves to give advice but is a bit clueless (sound like any other dads Gary's played?). Gary's voice co-stars include Will Friedle, Christy Romano, Jean Smart (one of Gary's Brady Bunch co-stars!) and Tahj Mowry.

When Sy (Robin Williams), a strange photodeveloper, starts crossing the line at work, his boss Bill Owens (Gary) steps in, setting off a scary spiral of events. Gary's co-stars also include Connie Nielsen, Eriq La Salle, and Michael Vartan (and his old American Gothic castmate, Nick Searcy!). Buy it on DVD

Family Affair

2002-2003, Television Series

In this remake of the '60s sitcom, Gary plays the fabulously weathly bachelor Bill Davis, who suddenly finds himself raising his three orphaned nieces and nephew, Sissy, Buffy and Jody, with the help of his oh-so-proper (and oh-so-unfamiliar-with-children) English butler, Mr. French (Tim Curry). Gary's gentle affection for kids shines through in his scenes with the youngsters, played by Caitlin Wachs, Sasha Pieterse and Jimmy "Jax" Pinchak.

I Spy

2002, Feature Film

Gary is featured as Carlos, a spy who gets all the newest, coolest spy gear, much to the chagrin of I Spy heroes Kelly Robinson and Alexander Scott in this twist on the '60s television series! His co-stars include Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson as Kelly and Alexander, as well as Famke Janssen and Malcolm McDowell. Buy it on DVD or VHS.

The Bradys in the White House

2002, Television Film

In his third outing as the clueless, advice-laden Mike Brady, Gary is reunited with his co-star Shelley Long (as his wife, Carol) when he ends up president of the United States (and she winds up vice-president!) after a family trip to the White House. The kids were re-cast in this version as the others had all grown too much to continue in their roles!

The West Wing

2003-, Television Series

Gary has a recurring role as Vice President "Bingo Bob" Russell, a former Colorado senator, in this series set in the fictional administration of President Josiah Bartlet. The administration seems to think Bingo Bob is a bit naive, but it seems they've underestimated him.... The series also stars Martin Sheen, Stockard Channing, and Bradley Whitfield.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

2004, Feature Film

When a group of misfits are threatened with the loss of their beloved gym, they challenge the new corporate owners to a dodgeball tournament. Gary provides color commentary for the tournament, along with Jason Bateman. Vince Vaughn, Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller also star. Buy it on DVD or VHS

Tad Hamilton

2004, Feature Film

When a small-town girl (Kate Bosworth) wins a date with a popular movie star, her friends and family can't quite handle it. Gary earned rave reviews for his role as her dad who grows increasingly infatuated with Hollywood. Topher Grace and Josh Duhamel also star. Buy it on DVD or VHS.

Pop Rocks

2004, Television Film

In this comedy, a former heavy metal star (Gary) is living a quiet life as a loan officer with a wife (Sherilynn Fenn) and two teenagers who know nothing of his past. When a former bandmate tries to talk him into a reunion concert, he'll do just about anything to keep his family and boss from finding out about it!

The Ring 2

2005, Feature Film

In this sequel to the popular horror film The Ring, Gary plays Martin Savide, a smarmy real estate agent who's selling the ranch from the first movie and is clueless about its bloody past. The film also stars Naomi Watts, Simon Baker and Sissy Spacek.

Wanted

2005-2006, Television Series

Gary heads up a secret task force charged with ridding Los Angeles of its top 100 criminals--even if they have to use unorthodox methods to do it! Both his conscience and his estranged wife cause problems to our unorthodox hero. Also in the cast are Rashida Jones, Ryan Hurst, Benjam�n Ben�tez and Josey Scott.   

Mozart and the Whale

2005, Feature Film

Mozart and the Whale features a topic near to Gary's heart, autism. In this film two young people (Josh Hartnett and Radha Mitchell) with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) meet and fall in love, but their Asperger's affects their relationship. Gary plays Wallace, Josh Harnett's boss, in the picture.   

Cry Wolf

2005, Feature Film

As a rich businessman, Gary's character takes no real interest in his son's life, to the point of not even taking his phone calls, just listening to the voicemails later. His world is work, business and money, and it's only when his son is arrested that he shows his true feelings for the boy.  

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

2006, Feature Film

Gary is receiving rave reviews for his portrayal of Reese Bobby, the alcoholic father who abandoned young Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) in this NASCAR comedy. When Reese reappears in the adult Ricky's life to help him relearn his driving skills, sparks fly!
