Why not start your tour just outside of town, where you find

    The Temple Family Farmhouse Ruins

Once a warm and happy home, the house as well as the family fell into disrepair after the death of Caleb's mother. Finally, in an effort to escape the clutches of Lucas Buck, Caleb burned it down. He later found a skeleton in the ruins, but for once, it wasn't a member of Caleb's family that had met an untimely end. Watch your step as you leave--you wouldn't want to trip on a piece of charred wood.

As you come into the edge of town, check in at

    Fulton County Hospital

Here's where Dr. Matt and now Billy work and where Caleb was born. Established in 1924, the building is aging--the room in which Caleb's mother stayed has a particular problem with being kept warm to this day. Dr. Matt had hopes of building a new hospital, but that may be hard to do while confined to Juniper House. Be sure and notice the lovely picture window in each room.

As you head downtown, you come across a few more familiar sights

Fulton County Jail and Adjoining Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Buck and his deputy Ben run the show here. A cell in the jail building is where Caleb's father Gage Temple killed himself with Ben's lucky pen after a visit from Sheriff Buck. The sheriff plans many of his nefarious deals in his private office in the adjoining building, and it was there that Gail first admitted her attraction to him. It is also where Matt made an abortive attempt to shoot Lucas, which resulted in his being confined to Juniper House. Do be sure to say hello to the nice man in the vest.

Site of the Original Trinity Guardian

Now a burned-out, boarded up shell, the Trinity Guardian building is where Gail's parents died in a fire on July 4, 1976--the day Lucas Buck was sworn in as sheriff. It was Lucas who discovered the bodies. The Guardian had been Trinity's newspaper since 1882, but evidently it didn't reopen, in Trinity at least, after the fire. But you're in luck. It has reopened in cyberspace.

    Just around the corner, find

    The Trinity Church

This is the church where the Temple children were baptized, and Father Tilden met his untimely death. It was the only building spared when fire swept the block some time ago, although recently Lucas showed Merlyn some flames inside it. Be sure to take time to admire the beautiful religious statuary. Lucas did!

    Trinity Museum of Natural History

Our Museum of Natural History is one of the cultural highlights of our little town. Visit our displays of many of the prehistoric inhabitants of Fulton County, and don't miss a visit to the flensing room. Be careful where you step, though; the museum has a pest problem we just can't seem to get rid of.

As you leave downtown, a left turn will take you to

    Trinity Elementary School

Caleb attends fourth grade here, and his teacher is Selena Coombs. Ms. Coombs often has guest speakers, such as Sheriff Buck, Gail and Dr. Billy explain life to her students. The school sponsored an archery contest that proved a turning point in the relationship between Lucas and Caleb. Ms. Coombs' classroom has been known to be the site of after-hours adventures for Selena and the sheriff. Oh--and if you come after dark, do bring a candle.

Just past the school, cross the street and turn the corner, where you'll find

    Loris Holt's Boarding House

The mystical Loris Holt takes care of her ward, Caleb, here, and provides a home Dr. Matt, among others. Don't miss Dr. Matt's room, with its pictures of death, Hitler and other things evil, including a photo of Lucas on which Matt has drawn a target. Visitors passing through town often stay a few nights here. Care to register?

Not far down the street is

    Lucas's House and Courtyard Garden

Over the fireplace in Lucas's big old Victorian house is a portrait painted two centuries ago--and the couple in it appears to be Lucas and Gail. A clear view of the painting was reportedly cut from the pilot episode, but it can be glimpsed in "Dr. Death Takes a Holiday." Take a look around Buck's courtyard garden, with its lovely statues and picturesque gargoyles. Doesn't that bench look inviting?

As we move on towards the river, we stop for a quiet moment at

    Merlyn's Final Resting Place

Merlyn, of course, is rarely at rest, and when she is, it's not always the same cemetery. Originally buried in a small country cemetery next to her father, Gage, her grave later appeared to be in a large city cemetery in "Rebirth." (This is actually due to permissions and distance issues with the cemeteries during filming.) As you pause at Merlyn's grave, be sure to read the inscription on her father's tombstone. Rest in Pease, Gage!

Past the cemetery, on the outskirts of town, stop for a visit at

    Juniper House Sanitarium

Juniper House reflects the beauty of a small town--it's one of the places where we take care of our own. Here is a happy home for Holly G, where she endlessly waits for her next visit from her boyfriend, Lucas Buck. In a slightly more secure environment, with softer walls and barred windows, Dr. Matt is working to recover his mind from the demons who led him to shoot Lucas. If only he'd gotten with the program and lightened up a little. . . .

Watch out! You're getting close to the river and entering a slightly seedy part of town. Look--there's

    Ben's Pool Hall Hangout

Deputy Ben likes to relax and soothe his conscience after a hard day of keeping up with Lucas by having a beer and shooting some pool down at his riverside hangout. Once in a while Lucas even shows up there to look in on a poker game or two. Ben sometimes runs into interesting partners for his pool game, like Selena. Rack your balls?

What's that sound? You must be near getting close to the water

    Trinity River

Scenic, beautiful--the river gives our town its name. It empties into Jackson Lake, where loving couples have been known to take a latenight boat ride--and come back less than a couple. Be careful, though, if you see an angelic-looking teenager dip her hands in the river. It could make your blood run cold.

We're sorry to see you leave our town. Oh--and do be careful on

    The Bridge

The bridge over Trinity River leads out of town in more ways than one. Sure, you can get down the road a ways to Ascension, but you might also pass into a more spiritual state. It's here that Lucas and Merlyn seem to come for those spirit-to-spirit talks. And watch out if you run into Ray the biker boy there. . . things are not always what they seem.

Thanks for visiting our town--come again soon!
